Pregnancy Tests

Pregnancy Tests

At one time or another, a woman who thinks she may be pregnant, is going to purchase a home pregnancy test, or go to her physician and request that one be performed.

A home pregnancy test uses urine to detect if pregnancy hormones are present, but usually, this can only be done a week or more after a missed period. If taken too soon, the pregnancy hormone will not yet be at a high enough level to be detected. There are many home pregnancy tests to choose from and they are fairly inexpensive. They can be purchased at pharmacies, discount stores, grocery stores, and online. The price will greatly depend on where the pregnancy test is purchased, and if it is just one test, or a multi-test package.

Pregnancy tests can be purchased in greater quantities online too, allowing for a smaller price per unit making it more affordable for the purchaser. It is also possible to buy multi packs at local retailers for less than what it would cost to buy two tests separately. On many occasions, a second test is needed. If the pregnancy test is taken too soon, it will show as a negative, when in fact a pregnancy has occurred. This is why a second test taken at a later date may be required to confirm or refute the results of the first test.

Home pregnancy tests are on average a dependable inexpensive way to confirm a pregnancy. They are very reasonably priced, and are very similar to the urine pregnancy tests used by physician’s offices. If you choose the later route, you will probably end up paying twice as much or more than you would have paid for a home pregnancy test you purchased and performed yourself. I don’t believe some women are even aware of this fact. They believe that the physician must have this great technology that is not available to her anywhere else. Take my advice, and save yourself a few bucks. Just go to your nearest pharmacy and buy one or two. You’ll save money, time, and can do it in the comfort of your own home whenever you feel like it, for the most part. Some pregnancy tests do state, however, that you use first morning urine, because it is more concentrated and will have the largest amount of pregnancy hormones present.

TODAY'S NEWS:

Not all pregnancy tests are created equal, and if you have a chance, look up various tests online first, to see which tests are the most accurate. Pregnancy tests detect the pregnancy hormone at different levels; tests that are more sensitive can detect it much sooner, some as soon as one day after a missed period. As soon as you do get a positive result, you should make an appointment with your physician so that it can be confirmed by a blood test and pelvic exam. Prenatal care should begin early in the pregnancy to ensure that you have a fine healthy happy baby. After all, it’s just not you anymore.
